BREAKING: Gaza ceasefire rally to take place in Freehold
"Your Tax Dollars are Funding Genocide" reads the poster for the controversial, largely whispered-about protest
FREEHOLD - A protest calling for a ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas is set to take place near the Monmouth County Hall of Records.
Freehold’s protest demands protesters “flood Freehold 4 Gaza” on a poster depicting a bloodied woman, bombs with the Star of David, and telling folks to bring keffiyehs, posters, and their voice.
The controversial protest is not expected to be well-attended. Nevertheless, leaders have voiced their concerns about the event given the violent turn these protests have recently taken.
"The anti-Israel protest in Freehold Borough is absolutely unacceptable and deeply troubling. The use of sensational and inflammatory imagery, such as the Star of David on bombs, perpetuates harmful stereotypes and promotes discrimination and violence,” said Assemblywomen Marilyn Piperno and Kim Eulner, whose district includes Freehold.
“We call on the organizers to refrain from distributing any antisemitic materials and to cancel the demonstration altogether. This is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of Freehold Borough residents, local law enforcement, and the Jewish community.”
Protests demanding a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have been marred by violence themselves, the most recent one resulting in a clash with Police outside the Democratic National Committee Headquarters in Washington, DC.
