CAUGHT: Howell mayoral candidate trashes county line he once sought
The former State Trooper and current township high school substitute took to social media to air personal grievances.
Howell - Current councilman and mayoral candidate Fred Gasior has taken to social media to lament the ongoing drama over the county line system in New Jersey. He seems to forget that he once sought its approval for his candidacy.
Gasior is the latest name in the cabal of critics, both Republican and Democrat that have turned against New Jersey’s county line system after US District Judge Zahid Quraishi ruled it unconstitutional. While the lawsuit has been brought by U.S. Senate candidate Andy Kim (D-Moorestown), Gasior’s grumbling seems more aligned with that of progressive Jersey City mayor and gubernatorial hopeful Steven Fulop who decried the “bossism” the line system allegedly represents.
Facebook posts from Gasior show his disdain for the line system and his lament towards the Monmouth County Republican Committee after having lost the county line nod in his bid for mayor. The now-deleted posts take aim at Chairman Shaun Golden, citing undescribed personal reasons. A source in Howell tells CJN that Gasior ardently sought support from the Howell GOP screening committee made up of County Committee members. Upon seeing Gasior’s posts, the screening committee dropped their endorsement of him and gave it to Deputy Mayor Ian Nadel.
”It’s pretty disheartening to see someone who served their country and their state act like a child when they don’t get what they want,” said one Howell resident speaking under the condition of anonymity. “But that’s just Fred,” they added.
Another resident took aim at Gasior’s Facebook Group which still includes “Howell Republican County Committee Nominee:”
”How can he be calling himself the nominee when he slams [the Committee] at every turn, not to mention in a public fashion on [Facebook]. Imagine what he says about the folks in town privately!”
Gasior’s aim at Golden also ominously hinted at a new slogan, seemingly suggesting that it is “time to look ahead.”
Perhaps changing his group name and being honest with Howell voters would be a start.
