Holmdel man charged with terror threats, bias intimidation after attack on Matawan donut shop
The attacker has a history of mischief across Monmouth and Middlesex counties.
Matawan - At 11:45 am on Saturday, March 29, 2025, Matawan Police were dispatched to Main Street Donuts, 141 Main Street, for a report of a subject attempting to remove a Pride Flag from the business. After news of the incident spread across social media, area residents flocked to the shop Sunday morning as a show of support. The shop was sold out shortly thereafter thanks to patrons.
Arriving officers spoke to the business owner Saturday, who advised that a white male with a t-shirt tied around his head as a mask, attempted to remove the Pride Flag from in front of his business, damaging the metal bracket. The accused was involved in a struggle with the owner, an openly gay man, who attempted to stop him from damaging the flag. The accused fled the scene prior to police arrival, but police managed to obtain a photo of the vehicle's license plate.

While officers were canvassing the area for the suspect, later identified as 61-year-old Maciej “Mike” Wojciak of Holmdel, he allegedly returned to the business and made Nazi salute gestures and simulated sexual acts in the road way. During this time, Wojciak also allegedly made threats to burn down the donut shop. Wojciak then fled the scene once again. Through further investigation, officers were able to determine that the vehicle was operated by Wojciak.
A short while later, Wojciak's vehicle was located and stopped in the area of 41 Main St. Wojciak was taken into custody at this location. He was charged with Bias Intimidation, Terroristic Threats, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct. Wojciak was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution following his processing at Matawan Police Headquarters.
Wojciak’s twitter shows him harassing minority populations and area businesses including mexican restaurants and his frequenting of adult stores, alongside a steady amount of heterosexual and homosexual pornography. He also showed a screenshot of a text sent to a friend saying he may be arrested for trespassing. In November of 2024 he was also arrested for being in contempt of municipal court by Middletown police. Wojciak also posted a complaint from the Sayreville municipal court where he allegedly shoplifted from an Exxon station two days prior to the donut shop incident.
Anyone with information about Saturday’s incident is urged to contact Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Detective Adam Hess at (800) 533-7443 or Matawan Police Department Detective Mason Sheehan at (732) 290-2038.
Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all the trial rights guaranteed by the US Constitution and State law.
