LISTEN: Gopal Endorses Pallone for Senate?
An emcee's mistake caused the LD-11 Senator to slip his choice to replace Sen. Bob Menendez.
Neptune - Either Senator Vin Gopal was speaking in tongues at “Souls to the Poles” after a pastor’s faux pas, or he accidentally let slip his choice to replace Senator Bob Menendez.
One of the two pastors at the VFW-hosted event with Senator Cory Booker mistook Congressman Frank Pallone for a Senator. After a brief murmur from the audience, Gopal is heard shouting “let’s make it happen!”

This flub comes a mere 24 hours after Gov. Murphy’s press conference in Monmouth County where he applauded Netflix’s intent to develop at the former Fort Monmouth. The event seemed to be distraction from the Orsted fallout where Gov. Murphy has been criticized, and an opportunity for Murphy to highlight Gopal who is running in tight election.
The New York Times reported that First Lady Tammy Murphy is preparing to explore a run while Central Jersey congressman and Senate hopeful Andy Kim recently outraised Sen. Menendez. Tammy Murphy’s first major event after signaling her intent was at a Get Out the Vote rally with Garden State Equality at 10:45 this morning. GSE Director Christian Fuscarino was also seen at Gopal and Pallone’s event after his own.
Pallone indicated his intent to explore a run to replace Menendez over a month ago. Sources have disclosed that Gopal wants the 6th Congressional District vacant so that he can fill it. Pallone has also endorsed Vin Gopal in his bid for the 11th District State Senate seat.
