Monmouth's Moment: Lessons from Lincoln Day
The Monmouth GOP's record-breaking Lincoln day highlights hope, emphasizes leadership.
Freehold -The Monmouth County Republican Committee’s landmark event, the annual Lincoln Day Dinner, shattered expectations and broke attendance records. The crowd just north of 650 republicans sold out South Gate Manor to break bread and welcome the oncoming election year.
Chairman Shaun Golden took to the dais to describe the reality of life under Phil Murphy and Joe Biden, underscoring the need for Republican victories down ballot. Golden, one of the state’s more dynamic Chairman and the county’s Sheriff, lamented Democrat priorities and their current attitudes - and provided the antidote against them:
”When you put illegal immigrants before our veterans, drive woke garbage into our schools to destroy our families, and when you favor chaos above law and order - there is only solution: getting President Donald J. Trump back in the White House and electing all of our Republican candidates down ballot.”
Running for reelection in 2024 is Commissioner Sue Kiley, and while she may be the only Commissioner candidate on the ballot, she assured the capacity crowd that she was not running alone. The former Hazlet mayor and current face of the groundbreaking Monmouth ACTS program addressed the crowd in a calm confidence:
”A lot of people ask me ‘how do you feel about running alone?’ The truth is, I’m not running alone: I’m running alongside and great team and with all of you,” she said to thunderous applause.
County Clerk Christine Hanlon welcomed Commissioner Director Tom Arnone to deliver remarks. Arnone highlighted the Monmouth Clerk’s efforts to drive voter registration, fight for election integrity, and modernize county procedures so “residents can always expect top tier services.”
Registered Republican voters beat registered Democrats 154,642 to139,580 in Monmouth, with over 194,000 being unaffiliated. Commissioner Director provided the reason for overwhelming Republican victories in the county, especially in last year’s commissioner’s race where Commissioner Erik Anderson and Ross Licitra won by over 20,000 votes.
“We are the best run county in the state of New Jersey,” proclaimed Commissioner Director Tom Arnone. “It’s that way because of republican policies and republican leadership that put our families first.”
The sold-out crowd indicated enthusiasm for both the party and the upcoming election season. Speaking to CJN, Chairman Golden emphasized that “this event is always our marquee event, but the excitement this year is even more palpable.”
Golden says the “record attendance and the energy proves two things: that the Republican party is alive and well--and growing-- in Monmouth County, and that everyone is ready to put in the work to take their country back.”
