Spadea uses California wildfire horror to boost governor bid
As thousands flee for safety, NJ101.5's poster boy uses the inferno to better his chances at a primary victory.
Princeton - As wildfires rage on in Southern California and thousands evacuate their homes, NJ101.5 radio host Bill Spadea is using the fiery terror to boost his long-shot campaign for Governor.
“Water pressure issues, radical enviros [sic] running gov’t failing [sic] to manage forests. Another preventable disaster,” wrote Spadea on X as a he retweeted a firefighter fighting the blaze. While many of those on the right would agree that natural occurrences made worse by government mismanagement have made the wildfire worse, the second part of Spadea’s tweet has landed the radio host in a firestorm of his own:
“Let’s not let the same happen here in Jersey. End the sanctuary for illegals, invest in water, power and transportation infrastructure. Support our first responders on duty and in retirement. Manage our forests and make New Jerseyans safe again,” continued Spadea.
CJN notes that Spadea has gone on record supporting amnesty for those who have entered the US illegally. Currently, there is no evidence that illegal immigrants caused the wildfire.
Serena DiMaso, a former Assemblywoman and Monmouth County Freeholder, retweeted Spadea’s promotion, adding “@BillSpadea won’t let that happen” and encouraged followers to join Spadea’s team.
Republicans across New Jersey, the same people Spadea needs to win his long-shot bid for the Governor’s mansion, have criticized the radio host’s remarks, citing shamelessness and poor judgment.
“This isn’t just about a bad tweet—it’s about poor judgment and an inauthentic campaign strategy,” said Mike Crispi, Chairman of American First Republicans of New Jersey.
“Bill had the opportunity and platform to support those suffering under and fighting these wildfires. He has the opportunity to lay out a plan for the future safety of New Jersey residents. Instead, he’s making this whole thing about him in an awkward self-promotional style.”
“When it comes to putting Americans or New Jerseyans first, Bill routinely places them last,” said Crispi
CJN’s publisher Mike De Robbio also weighed in with a personal perspective on the tweet.
“My sister lives in Los Angeles and our family is actively monitoring the situation in the event she has to evacuate. We are scared, but vigilant, and there are many in New Jersey that have loved ones in California suffering the same.”
“When September 11th and Hurricane Sandy devastated New Jersey, good people abandoned politics and responded to leaders who wanted to build up their communities,” De Robbio said.
“Bill’s routine bloviating and shameless self-promotion, even in the face of tragedy, shows he isn’t serious about leading. This is why voters have overwhelmingly rejected all of his attempts at public office,” continued De Robbio, adding that Spadea is “lusting for the thing he loves most: attention.”
“Bill has made clear that he would rather be some 55-year-old social media influencer than be a leader.”
As of this morning, four wildfires continue to burn while a fifth has been contained. Los Angeles lies in the center of the four remaining blazes. The Palisades Fire, driven by strong Santa Ana winds, began in the Santa Monica Mountains late Tuesday morning and quickly engulfed 200 acres within an hour, surging to nearly 3,000 acres by sunset, FOX Weather reported.
The Associated Press has reported that over 100,000 people are under evacuation orders at the time of writing. More than 450,000 remain without power. 17 million people across Southern California are covered by a smoke and dust advisories.

Spadea is almost as much of a narcissist as Drumpf. Natural disasters should never be politicized but this is a good time to remind everyone that it was Republicans who voted AGAINST additional funding for FEMA last year.
