STILTON'S LAST STAND: Mayor Rodrick's info officer leaves in fury
The former Shore News Network Editor left Town Hall in a fury, vowing to unleash his own.
Toms River - Phil Stilton, the controversial Editor of Shore News Network, is officially out of Toms River Township, according to a source inside Town Hall. A screaming match broke out between Democrat operative and Business Administrator John Salonis and Stilton, Toms River’s now former Public Information officer, the latter of which threatening that he “got [Rodrick] elected and can take [Rodrick] out.”
The Facebook page Rodrick Watch posted that “conflicting reports are that Stilton resigned or was fired after refusing a demand that he felt crossed ethical boundaries. Either way, his short lived tenure is over and he had already departed by the time police responded to Town Hall.”
Despite the strategic appointment of Democrats, the mayor of the staunchly Republican town has since lost a Business Administrator, Assistant Business Administrator, and Township Engineer, within 60 days of his swearing in. It was announced earlier today that Chief Financial Officer Judy Tutela’s resignation from the Rodrick administration will be March 22.
Insider reports tell CJN that Ocean County GOP Chairman and Toms River resident George Gilmore is standing by Dan Rodrick despite his rocky start that has caused local anxiety, largely due to his efforts to cut the Toms River Police Department and his frequent use of his municipal vehicle for transport to Middletown where he works as a schoolteacher at Thorne Middle School.
Rodrick held a controversial council meeting to cut the township police over Zoom where antisemitic slurs where broadcasted by an anonymous member of the pubic and where Rodrick made his crotch and his feet visible on camera, later becoming popular memes.
EDITOR’S NOTE: A prior version of this story stated that the police were called and that Stilton resigned. Upon further investigation, police were not called and Stilton did not officially resign. Stilton has since written about his experience in the Rodrick administration with can be accessed here.
